Intensive Zen Meditation

An intensive urban Zen meditation retreat is a practice carried out in an urban environment, where participants may also join partially in order to have a first contact with a Zen retreat or sesshin, which is a fundamental practice within the Zen Buddhist tradition.

What is a sesshin?

During a sesshin, practitioners commit to following a rigorous schedule that includes periods of seated meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), formal meals, mindful manual work (samu), Dharma talks by the Zen master, and limited free time. The sesshin takes place in an atmosphere of silence and contemplation, with the aim of deepening the experience of meditation and bringing practitioners to a greater understanding of the nature of mind and reality. Sesshin is an opportunity to fully immerse oneself in spiritual practice and to cultivate greater clarity and awakening. It is a profoundly transformative experience.

Introduction to the Zen retreat for beginners

In the urban retreat, it is possible to participate partially, which makes it suitable for beginners. To attend, it is essential to have completed a free introduction with Zen Kannon and to have practiced zazen for a few months, either in person or online at the Zen Kannon center. In any case, if this is your first retreat, it is highly recommended to consult with the teachers of the center to ensure that your preparation is sufficient.
