Zen retreats, or sesshin, consist of several days of zen practice in a country house in the midst of nature. During sesshin we practise Zen meditation and other activities in silence and with mindfulness, so that we can harmonize the serene and concentrated Zen mind with every moment of our daily lives. We learn to do this directly and intuitively, simply following the practice in each moment.
It is advisable for all practitioners of meditation to participate in these periodic retreats, to prevent daily meditation stagnating and becoming a routine activity.
The retreats (sesshin) are held in Mas Curtius (Lluçà). Bring: zafu, zafuton, bowl, spoon, two large napkins and a small white napkin; bed sheet, sheet and pillowcase, or sleeping bag. Reservations required: firstname.lastname@example.org
Zen retreats in the city consist of a weekend of zen practice at Zen Kannon (in Barcelona city centre), during which meditation and activities are practiced quietly and in mindfulness. During meditation, we pay special attention to breathing and mental attitude. You may join the Zen retreat at different scheduled slots. Do not ring the bell at any other time. If you participate in any of the meals (guenmai or lunch) you must bring a bowl, spoon, two large napkins and a small white napkin.
