Advanced Zen Meditation Course
Zen master Lluis Nansen Salas will lead an advanced Zen meditation course at the Zen Kannon Center. This courses, designed for practitioners with prior meditation experience who wish to deepen their journey into Zen, will take place over three Sunday afternoons from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Each session will cover fundamental topics to enrich personal practice and Zen teaching.
Course Schedule and Content:
First Workshop: Leading Meditations
Guiding a meditation, overcoming obstacles in meditation, organizing a personal routine, and the meditation of the four foundations.
This session will focus on the essential skills for effectively leading meditations, including recognizing and overcoming the main obstacles that may arise during practice. It will also cover how to design a personal routine tailored to individual needs and delve into the four foundations of meditation.
Second Workshop: Teaching Posture
How to teach posture, correct common mistakes, and meditate on emptiness.
In this session, participants will learn how to teach and correct proper posture for meditation, including addressing common mistakes among practitioners. Additionally, there will be a practice session on meditating on emptiness, one of Zen’s essential concepts.
Third Workshop: Awakening the Mind
Awakening the mind, the four dhyana, satori, and satipatthana with the seven factors of awakening.
The final session of the course will focus on the deeper aspects of Zen meditation: awakening the mind. Participants will explore the four dhyana (states of meditative concentration), the concept of satori (enlightenment), and the seven factors of awakening associated with the practice of satipatthana in Zen meditation.
