Sunday, December 21, 2025, let us all come together to celebrate the World Meditation Day, promoted by the United Nations and embraced locally through the celebration of the World Meditation Day.
The Zen Kannon Meditation Center opens its doors to all neighbors, newcomers, and long-time practitioners to share a space of silence, connection, and inner awakening.
Outdoor Meditation
At 10:15, we will meet at the Zen Kannon Meditation Center on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and prepare for departure.
At 10:30, we will head to a park in the city (location to be confirmed) and hold an outdoor meditation. In case of rain or bad weather, we will stay at the Zen Kannon Center for the meditation.
At 11:00, a global meditation session will begin outdoors in a nearby natural setting. The expected duration is one hour. The style is free: sitting in silence, we will respect the beginning and the end of the session. Please bring your own cushion or bench, and a mat or similar item to sit on the ground. If you would like guidance, feel free to ask upon arrival.
Outdoor meditation allows us to reconnect with the body, the breath, and the present moment, while highlighting the universal dimension of the practice: the United Nations General Assembly resolution states that meditation can contribute to the physical and mental well-being of all people.
Whether you already practice regularly or this is your first time sitting in meditation, this global session will open the door to silence and well-being. We recommend bringing comfortable clothing, a mat or cushion, and, if you wish, a light blanket, as winter temperatures may already be noticeable.
Evening Open House at Zen Kannon
At 7:00 p.m., we invite everyone to our World Meditation Day open house at the Zen Kannon Center. You will be able to visit our zazen hall, meet our community, and learn about our regular practice schedule. It will be an opportunity for everyone: families, neighbors, the curious, and interested practitioners.
The day is intended as a warm and open celebration, showing that meditation is not only an individual practice but also a source of social connection and shared peace. We celebrate it in harmony with the call to “share the joy of meditation” that defines this day.
We encourage you to register in advance. Both activities are free, but reservation is required due to limited capacity. You can sign up by submitting the form below.
Come with an open heart, and mind. Whether you practice regularly or take this opportunity for a first encounter, we welcome you to share this day of silence and serene presence. Together, we celebrate World Meditation Day in the heart of Barcelona.
