Meditating Every Day

The video Meditating Every Day, was created and produced by the sangha of the Zen Kannon Center in Barcelona. This document is a living expression of the spirit of Zen practice in our time. Through simple and mindful images, it reveals the natural rhythm of life in the dojo, where every breath and every gesture reflect the depth of shared silence. It is not a staged production, but a direct testimony of daily practice as it was lived in the dojo on Ronda Universitat, in the heart of Barcelona, between 2018 and 2020.

Gyoji. The constant practice

This period bore witness to steady, daily practice — when dozens of practitioners gathered every morning and evening to sit in silence, face the wall, and let body and mind return to their original nature. The photographs accompanying the video capture these moments: serene faces, stable postures, soft light entering through the windows. They are images of diverse people, yet united by the same aspiration — to live fully in the present moment with the intention of meditating every day.

Meditating every day is returning to the essence of Zen.

Meditate every day is returning to the essence. It is not an obligation or a technique to achieve something, but a way of living in harmony with what is. In the daily repetition of zazen, there is a learning to trust, to let go, to open oneself to reality as it is. This constancy transforms everyday life, nurturing calm, clarity, and compassion in the midst of urban living.

Simply sitting in silence

This video and the accompanying photographs are a tribute to all those who, day after day, sit in silence at the Zen Kannon dojo. Peace and lucidity are not distant ideals, but experiences we can live right now — simply sitting, breathing, meditating every day to find serenity.
