Zen meditation retreat in November
A November retreat in the city is an intensive Zen meditation session. The practice takes place at the Zen Meditation Center Kannon in Barcelona. What does sesshin mean?
During a sesshin, participants follow a rigorous practice that includes periods of seated meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), formal meals, mindful manual work (samu), Dharma workshops led by the Zen master, and limited free time. Additionally, all activities in the sesshin are conducted in silence and with full mindfulness. This deepens the meditation experience, leading practitioners to a greater understanding of the nature of the mind and reality. The city retreat is an opportunity to immerse oneself completely in spiritual practice, achieving greater clarity and spiritual awakening. Sesshin is a profoundly transformative experience. Introduction to the Zen Retreat for Beginners
As mentioned, a characteristic of the November city retreat is that partial participation is allowed, making it suitable for beginners. However, attending requires having completed a free introduction with Zen Kannon and having practiced zazen for some time, either in-person or online at the Zen Kannon center. In any case, if it’s your first retreat, it is highly recommended to consult with the Center’s teachers to determine if you are ready. The November retreat offers a great opportunity for beginners to start their journey with Zen meditation.
