2025/10/11 koan zazen shin meditation workshop
What is a koan? In the zazen shin koan meditation, we will introduce the koan…
The Koan Meditation course allows us to discover the power of the Koan, the Zen paradox traditionally used by masters to challenge their disciples. The Koan completely turns your mind upside down, leaving nothing to cling to. Guided meditation is led by Zen master Lluís Nansen Salas.
Join us on a spiritual journey with Zen master Lluís Nansen Salas at the Zen Meditation Center Kannon. This koan meditation course will help you practice Zen and better understand your own nature through reflection on enigmatic koans, such as “The Bright Pearl of Ikka.”
A koan is a riddle in the Zen tradition used to challenge the rational mind and open the doors to an intuitive understanding of reality. Its purpose is to help practitioners overcome logical and rational thinking, altering common thought patterns and leading to a deeper level of consciousness.
Koans are dialogues between master and disciple with perplexing questions that defy logic and reason. The disciple must reflect on the paradox and seek an answer that goes beyond logic, allowing them to understand reality in an intuitive and direct way. For this reason, they are known as the gate-less gate.
Koan meditation helps break down mental barriers and see reality in a more profound and direct way. Koans are a powerful tool in Zen meditation, widely used by Chan masters to transcend mental limitations and experience the essence of existence.
By contemplating these seemingly absurd statements, one seeks to attain a state of spiritual enlightenment. In this state, the separation between subject and object dissolves, and the unity of all existence is perceived. This course is designed for practitioners of all levels who wish to deepen their spiritual practice.
Lluís Nansen Salas is a Zen master with years of experience guiding practitioners on the Zen path. Koan meditation helps students find clarity and inner peace through a deep and transformative vision. He is the author of the book Meditació Zen. L’art de simplement ser.
The Zen Kannon Center is a place of peace and serenity where practitioners can immerse themselves in Zen practice and find answers to their deepest questions. Master Lluís Nansen Salas is known for his wisdom and compassion, guiding his students with patience and love.
In this course, participants will learn to work with koans, paradoxical questions or statements that challenge the rational mind and lead to an understanding beyond words. Through koan meditation, the goal is to transcend duality and experience unity with the universe.
If you are seeking a profound and transformative spiritual path, this course is for you. Join us at the Zen Kannon Center and begin your journey towards enlightenment. We welcome you with open arms!
